As the 2nd touring city of the acclaimed MDNA tour in June 2012, preparation of this first ever full size touring show began many months prior.
Our site crew were involved in the initial dismantling of the current Yas Arena semi permanent stage to be replaced by the increased touring stage set which included hydraulics, special set and special effects.
Liaising with the local promoter, Touring Production and StageCo this tour saw over 50 fullsize containers worth of stage, wardrobe, set and hydraulics head to Yas Arena in correct formation for off-loading.
A De-rig of this scale included overseeing and providing 120+ crew each separated into divisions and managing these sections to ensure containers were loaded in the correct order of shipment.
Time was of the essence with this de-rig. All 50 trucks had to travel to Dubai Airport from Abu Dhabi, in the correct shipping order within 12hours of show finish.
Overseeing the onsite truck logistics ensured that we effectively created a round robin of trucks. This ensured that all trucks were loaded quickly and efficiently ensuring the safety of the crew, equipment, and drivers.
Our crew managed this incredible feat within 8hours. This ensured the containers were in Dubai ahead of schedule for boarding the Antanovs to the next location.
For the 7th year running, GCC Events LLC have been involved in the National Day Celebration in Abu Dhabi, this year being the ND46th National Day Celebration in Al Mushrif Palace on 2nd December 2017. This year also saw GCC providing crew to Flash Entertainment as well as Done and Dusted Production to assist in the build and production of this event. Over the event period, GCC provided over 500 crew working over 5,000 man hours to include site and show crew, plant operators as well as climbers and spot operators.
As expected there were a large number of shift changes as well as crew changes. In order to manage this, the team had to remain responsive 24hours a day and often having to strictly manage our ‘professional’ team and made sure of the delivery and completion of each task required.
GCC have had the pleasure of working on the UAE National Day for over XX years as the sole crewing supplier.
We have worked on The National Day celebrations for many years now as the sole crew supplier for all departments of the show.
ND47 in 2018 was themed the “Year of Zayed” and held significant importance within the UAE and for the show producers.
Over the period 4 September – 10 December 2018, we supplied throughout this period over 10,968 crew with a total of 131,616 man hours. Liaising with all departments, GCC Crew were placed in the following roles:
Our team were involved and supported in every aspect of delivery of this incredible event. Keeping the fridges filled with water; running and managing props; site build and de-rig; stage hands; lighting, Wardrobe, sound and rigging.
Running over 380 crew daily our operations team, coordinated and liaised with the client/s as well as transport team and the crew. Ensuring daily updates were communicated; managing crew calls; changes to crew timings, amended hours, pick up locations and of course uniform laundry. Our ability to remain responsive 24hours a day was a key factor and in remaining flexible we were able to ensure each show department ran as smoothly as possible.
(from busiest day account) on the busiest days (2nd Dec 2018, show day), we transported and organised over Three hundred and eighty eight crew to help deliver ND47.
we were involved in all aspects of delivering this show, from simply filling fridges with water, to keep the vast amount of personnel hydrated on site, to having eighty five stage hands on stage involved in the show itself. There was not one element that we did not have a hand in, from power to lighting , from wardrobe to sound, GCC Events crew were there to help and facilitate.
Running crew of this size daily, was a logistical operation on the scale not seen before in the UAE. Getting crew to site in large numbers on time, needs a team of dedicated people behind the scenes as well. The operation manager and her assistants, took crew calls daily that changed numbers for all the departments on site. We then contacted all crew to inform them of call time changes and crew numbers Continuity was a key factor in helping all the departments running smooth
2018 saw the first international music festival support the Formula E launch in Ad Diryah, Riyadh. A 3 night music extravaganza staging over 6 headline artists to include; One Republic, Black Eyed Peas, Enrique, Jason Derulo, David Guetta and Amr Diab.
Working closely with Live Nation, Formula E and Blink Experience, GCC helped shape and build the music site with provision of Site Management. Liaising with all suppliers, Nigel and Steve developed the site plan, site supplier, waste, water and cleaning schedules as well as build schedule. Maintaining liaison with all key stakeholders was imperative in this complex build to ensure division of areas, delivery schedules and economies of scale could be managed and delivered.
Supporting Nigel and Steve were our site crew who chalked up over 1800 man hours on site
